Hongmahn villagers appeal for peaceful co-existence

Villagers of Tangkhul/Hongmahn villagers appeal all communities living in Manipur to stay away from any enmity created by few sections and try to live together with love and harmony, while celebrating Chumphut Phanit Festival of the Tangkhul community.
People from various communities participated in the festival celebrated at Hongmahn village in Kangpokpi district. The festival was celebrated today to mark first drawing out of unprocessed rice from the granary.
The village chief invited the villagers to take part in the festival on its eve. People together enjoyed sumptuous cuisine merrily. The festival was witnessed with cultural performance and traditional sports participated by the villagers.
Convenor of a Good Will Mission, Ningthoujam Lancha, president of Democratic Students’ Alliance Manipur, Moirangthem Angamba were present in the gathering.
Victor R, village chairman said when we can celebrate the festival together with different communities why should there be tussle among us. We organise this festival on this note, added Victor.
The celebration day of the festival is different from one Tangkhul Village to another.
The village which is also known as Khongbal Tangkhul is just 25 kilometers away from Imphal inhabited by Meitei, Tangkhul, Kuki and Nepali. We have living together with love and harmony with no difference of among us which has made possible to celebrate the festival together and happily, added Victor.
“If we live together with love among us we all will be happy. We see some trying to create disharmony within the village. But, it can never disturb our peaceful co-existence if we continue to live together helping each other” said a village woman.
