Cultural exponent longs for peace and prosperity

Padmashree Elam Indira, a dance exponent and first heroine of Manipuri film calls upon the need for acquiring wisdom to bring peace and prosperity in the trouble torn Manipur on the 24th foundation celebration of her dance training institute held at Gandhi Memorial Hall in Imphal.
To begin the day she wished the gathering a happy new year that would see peace and love in the state. A one minute silence was observed for those who lost their lives in different unfortunate incidents in the last year.
On the foundation day of the Meitei Traditional Dance Teaching School and Performing Centre, Imphal, Dr. K Sobita, chairperson MSCW, H. Tomba Singh, retired VC, MU, Elam Priyokumar Singh, retired state election officer were present beside cultural the presence of cultural exponents and young artiste.
A classical dance entitled Krishna Nartan began the cultural performance section of the foundation day. The dance was performed by Joya Haobam, first position holder, basic course. It was followed by Lai Haraoba dance presented by the students of the dance institute. Yumlembam Chinglen a disciple of Indira enthralled the crowd with Kathak classical dance. To round up the day a group of artiste of the institute run by Indira performed a classical cum ballad dance led by Manju Elangbam.
Ahead of the cultural performances the first position holder of the institute was praised with a reward.
The institute was initiated on the September 18, 1993 and has produced distinct artistes.
