People recalls 7 years devastation

In commemoration with the 7 years devastation, today the United Peoples’ Front observed the 9th January as National Reconsolidation Day 2017.

As a part of the observation the UPF along with various civil society organisations paid floral tribute at the Tomb of Maharaj Chinglen Nongdrenkhomba alias Ghambir Singh located at Canchipur, Imphal.

Later with a procession was set through Canchipur till Singjamei Hao ground holding the banner embedded –Observation of 183rd Death Anniversary of Iningthou Chinglen Nongdrenkhomba.

In a formal function held at Hao ground S. Ratankumar president UPF, RK Ranendrajit Editor, The Freedom, Dr. Md Riyajuddin Khan, Associated Professor Lilong Haoreibi College and Homen Thangjam, Assistant Professor, Maharaj Bhudhachandra College were attended as president, guest of honours and resource persons respectively.

Speaking to media president of UPF, S. Ratankumar said, “Manipur was devastated for Seven years from 1891 to 1896, our forefathers sacrificed their life fighting the enemy to bring back our ancestor lands. He strongly condemned the negligence of state government negligence of today’s observation and appealed all the communities of the state for oneness and for peaceful coexistence amongst all.
