Sarita vows to silence Zsofia

Iron Lady Sarita Devi has vowed to knock down Hungarian veteran boxer Zsofia Bedo when she faced off with her opponent today ahead of the IBC Fight Night that would open another chapter to the glory of Manipur boxing.
World champion and Asian games Bronze medalist Sarita is making her first professional boxing debut taking on Zsofia at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium tomorrow. Manipur boxer Sarita will be the first Indian female professional boxer stepping into the pro circuit.
Sarita said, “I will knock down her in two rounds.” “I am glad to meet Sarita, I know her as a good amateur fighter and we will have an interesting fight tomorrow”, said Zsofia.
The five-bout IBC fight will also witness Glasgow Commonwealth medalist Haryana boxer Pinki Jangra and former commonwealth champion Som Bahadur Poon of Meghalaya making their professional debut. Pinki will take on the experienced boxer Claudia Ferenczi of Slovakia and Poon will take on Manop Siththeim winner of Thailand.
Four times Super Walter Weight IBC National Champion Siddharth Verma of Pune will defend his title against his fellow countryman Jaganathan of Chennai, a five times state champion and silver medalist of South Zone 2005.
Mubaraka Sseguya of Uganda will take on the current junior world champion Vipin Kumar of Madhya Pradesh.
The fighters had face-off event today ahead of the fight at Hotel Classic Grande.
The IBC was sure of a packed house at the event venue. The vent will be broadcast on six networks including Doordarshan and Impact TV, the media partner of the event.
IBC President PKM Raja said the Indian Boxing Council has chosen Imphal for the fights because Manipur has produced big boxing icons and people of the state are sports lover.
The IBC will be coming back in Imphal in three months to conduct similar event, said Ashish Chadha, director, Sporty Boxing, commercial partner of IBC.
