Manipur Police Sports Club (A) beat Khurai Polo Club by 6-5 goals to claim the champion title of the 32nd N. Hazari and Dr. Tombi State Polo Tournament 2017 played at Mapal Kangjeibung.

Police started off with strong gallops with H. Abung striking home two goals and later teammate S. Bimol pushed home a goal to put 3 goals lead. However just before the final whistle of the first chukker, O.Roger brought up Khurai Polo Club first goal to trial by 1-3 goals. The second chukker failed to provide any goal to the teams.

The third chukker saw Khurai Polo Club making a blunder as L. Thomson conceded an own in the first minute of play to increase the margin of the Policeman to 4-1 goals. Police rider H. Abung added one more goals to boost the score line to 5-1 goals.

However Khurai riders made a full thrust gallops in the fourth chukker and L. Thomson make amend of his mistake by striking home two goals while O. Roger Singh also fetch two goals to catch up with 5-5 goals each. With hectic battle for the all important goal, Manipur Police had the last laugh with S. Bimol Singh chipping with the winning goal for the champion title.

Manipur Police Sports Club (A) walked off with the coveted trophy along with Rs 40,000 and Khurai Polo Club took the runners up along with Rs 30,000. Veteran polo player M. Manihar Singh was accorded the life time achievement award for his contribution to the game of Polo with cash incentives of Rs 5000.
