Sharmila’s PRJA launches election manifesto

Rights crusader Irom Chanu Sharmila’s People Resurgence and Justice Alliance (PRJA) has today launched its election Manifesto consisting of ten promises at Manipur Press Club in Imphal.
Sharmila said her first priority will be repeal of the draconian law—Armed Forces (special powers) Act by lobbying with the people’s representatives of other states where the army act has been imposed and together table the issue in the parliament.
The manifesto which listed the repeal of the army act includes vowed to other nine other promises as establishment of Lokayukta and anti-corruption bureau consisting of CBI, civil police, members of Lokpal and Lokyukta. It include redrafting of the inner line permit bill, reservation of at least 33 percent for women in all elected office, development of small scale industries to make Manipur a self-reliant state, clean water supply prospect, rebuild high quality public infrastructures, strict monitoring of public services, relocate military camps at at-least 10 km radius from all residential settlements and public places, and establish a protest platform to ensure bandh free education.
Sharmila said many intending candidates came to seek ticket for PRJA but they were rejected after reading their minds.
PRJA is contesting at four assembly constituencies for which Sharmila is contesting at Thoubal constituency where chief minister Okram Ibobi is contesting for his fourth term. Erendro Leichombam is contesting at Thangmeiband constituency while the first ever woman Muslim candidate in Manipur, Najima Bibi is contesting at Wabgai constituency.
