Prime Minister fails to keep promise

Prime minister Narendra Modi has so far failed to keep his promise to open the four and a half months long economic blockade imposed by the United Naga Council immediately after BJP forms its government in the state.
Modi was in Imphal on February 25. He slammed the state government for failing to lift the blockade imposed by the UNC. Modi said Ibobi Singh instigated the blockade to gain political mileage by dividing the communities. He said a BJP government would take charge by Holi and the blockade issue will be immediately resolved.
BJP central leaders during election campaign also promised to open the blockade within 48 hours after the BJP comes to power in the said.
After a day Nongthombam Biren Singh was sworn in as chief minister of the first BJP government in the state, a cabinet meeting was conducted and took the resolution to plea the UNC to end its economic blockade. The government was initiated on the day before yesterday.
However the UNC has denied lifting its economic blockade until their demands are fulfilled. The UNC made it clear that the blockade would continue until the government held talks with it over its demands.
“We were happy that the blockade would open in two days of BJPs rule as promised by the BJP leaders. But still the blockade is continuing; they are total cheaters and lairs”, said Leimapokpam Babyrani Devi speaking to Pothashang.
