Digi-Dhan Mela for cashless payments

With the objective to promote cashless modes of payment in Manipur, Digi-Dhan Mela is scheduled to organise at City Convention Centre, Palace Compound, Imphal on April 2.
It was announced by chief secretary, O. Nabakishore Singh at a press meet held at the conference hall, old secretariat today. He said that the Digi-Dhan Melas will be held across 100 different cities in the country, which will also promote awareness among the consumers and the business community.
Minister of State for Home, Kiren Rijiju and minister of state for Railways, Rajen Gohain will grace the event.
Nabakishore Singh said in order to promote cashless payment, various channels/platforms have been launched such as RuPay, Aadhar enabled Payment system (AePS), Unified Payment Interface (UPI), Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), Immediate Payment Service (IMPS), e-wallet and POS machine. Most of the banks have also launched mobile apps to enable consumers to make cashless payments in digital form.
The government of India has launched two schemes namely Lucky Grahak Yojana (for consumers) and Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana (for merchants) w.e.f. December 25th, 2016. Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will give prizes to the winners of the mega draw to be held nationally at a function in New Delhi on the last day of the campaign on April 14th, 2017. The highest prize for the Lucky Grahak Yojana is Rs 1 crore and Rs 50 lakh for the Digi Dhan Vyapar Yojana.
PK Singh, Commissioner (IT) said, during the Digi-Dhan Mela around 30-35 stalls will be open to impart knowledge about digital payment. A special draw will be held during the mela and 8 (eight) lucky winners who have used digital modes of payment in the mela will get prizes. The first prize winner will get a two-wheeler Scooty, LED TV for the 2nd prize winner, RO Filter for the 3rd prize winner and 5 (five) smart phones as consolation prizes.
