Warning to stop alcohol and drug business

Joint Action Committee against Drugs and Alcohol formed by five local organisations has given an ultimatum to the vendors of drugs and alcohols to stop selling intoxicants in and around the Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai from April 30.
The action committee in its press statement released today stated that the youth in the locality who are supposed to be the future pillars of the society are drowned in the sea of drug and alcohol. While at the same time housewives suffers ill-treatment by their drunken husbands. In order to save the society from this critical situation the local bodies formed the action committee to stop selling and using of drug and alcohol, said the statement.
The action committee also appealed the liquor vendors and drug dealers in the locality to shift their drug business to the business that would be socially acceptable and respected by all.
It warned of dire consequences to the vendors if they go against the plea that is meant for the betterment of the society. The vendors will be responsible for the consequences, added the statement.
