MINISTER BISWAJIT SEEKS MORE PROJECTS

Minister of Textiles, Commerce and Industries Thongam Biswajit Singh drew the attention of the union minister of Micro, Small and Medium enterprises (MSME) Kalraj Mishra for taking up more schemes and projects under the ministry in Manipur so that unemployment problem in the state could be solved.

Biswajit was at the meeting of ministers and principal secretaries (MSME/Khadi/Coir) of all states and union territories under the chairmanship of Kalraj Mishra, union minister for MSME, government of India, held in New Delhi, on friday.

Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary, minister of state for MSME, government  of India, and senior officers of the ministry were also present at the meeting.

Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands; Rohit Bhai Patel, Minister from Gujarat; Vipul Goyal, minister from Haryana; H. Rohluna, minister from Mizoram; Jogendra Behera, minister from Odisha; Satyadev Pachauri, minister from Uttar Pradesh and Madan Kaushik, minister from Uttarakhand participated in the meeting.

Th. Biswajit Singh also stressed the importance of Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) which was a credit-linked programme launched by the ministry of MSME for creation of employment in both rural and urban areas of the country. He urged the ministry for creation of more employment in Manipur under the scheme.

Kalraj Mishra said, “The coordination between centre and states is necessary for overall development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Sector”. He also pointed out that the present Government wanted more people to be self-employed so that the number of job-seekers came down.

In the meeting, the union ministry informed again to all the states to create a separate department or at least a separate directorate for the development and growth of the MSMEs. The ministry also asked every state to come up with MSME policy in their states so that the MSMEs were encouraged.
