Attack at oil tankers injures three

Attack at two diesel oil tankers and a petrol tanker has injured three drivers along National Highway-2 in between Changoubung and Kangpokpi.
The incident took place at around 5: 40 this morning while the tankers were heading towards Imphal.
Raju Karki, driver of a diesel tanker bearing MN-03-0911 got bullet injury at his arm and 6-7 rounds of bullets hit the vehicle. The other diesel tanker that was hit by bullets bore the registration number AS-01-DD-4718 and the petrol tanker bore the registration number MN-01-8327. The drivers were T.B Singh and Chandra respectively.
Earlier on April 18 two oil tankers—one a petrol carrier and another, a diesel carrier were shot and leaked by suspected militants at kangpokpi area along the Imphal-Dimapur road.
On January 24 an attack along the National Highway 37 hit one oil loaded truck ferrying towards Imphal. The bullet attack took place at Awangkhul under Noney police at Tamenglong side. The oil tanker was hit with four bullets, a front tyre got punctured and the driver’s shield was also damaged.
Today’s incident took place after the state police has claimed on April 21 that it had crackdown a gang associated with non signatory organisations KCP (Lalheiba) and KNF (N) who has been involved in various extortion related crimes including April 18 firing at two oil tankers at Kangpokpi .
