Oil tanker drivers on strike -panic buyers on queue

Demanding to provide adequate security along the National Highways infested by militants the oil tanker drivers had launched its cease work strike by halting ferrying of fuel oil since yesterday following which people were seen today lined up long queues at oil pumps in Imphal.

The drivers took up the strike following an attack at two diesel oil tankers and a petrol tanker which injured three drivers along National Highway-2 in between Changoubung and Kangpokpi on Sunday. Following the attack on Sunday police had taken up search operations in Kangpokpi.

The main demand of the oil tanker drivers was to provide them adequate security along the highways. The last attack was the second since the BJP led government took office on March 15.
