Torch rally against drug

With torch in their hands people of Thangmeiband majorly women led by ‘Joint Action Committee against Drug and Alcohol’ came out on the street yesterday raising slogans to root out selling and using of drugs and alcohol from Manipur by initiating anti-drug drive from Thangmeiband.

The demonstrators set of from Thangmeiband United Club and passed through lanes of various segments of Thangmeiband, Imphal West.

The activists complain that drugs and alcohol have ruined the society. Many are widowed, children are orphaned and women and children are living desperately when the head of the families are addicted to drugs and alcohol. “The youth of today are brought into the jaws of death. We need to root out drugs and alcohol culture from the soil” said a youth from the locality of Thangmeiband Khomdram Selungba Leikai.

The move came up while the state authorities are taking up continuous drives against drugs and alcohol in the state.
