BISWAJIT INSTRUCTS DCs TO FINISH VERIFICATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF GOVERNMENT QUARTER OCCUPANTS WITHIN SEVEN DAYS

Works Minister Th.Biswajit has instructed deputy commissioners of nine districts to finish verification and identification of Government Quarter occupants within seven days.

A meeting held at conference hall of Old Secretariat hall with an aim to stock details of rental government quarters, occupancy, collections of rents etc.

The meeting also discusses regarding giving proper allotment to state government employees and revised of rental of government quarters. Renovation and repairing works of the quarters will be taken up by the PWD and at the same time construction of multi-storied residential quarters in the district HQs will be taken up by PWD. And land for the construction of quarters is to be provided by concerned DCs.

He instructed to all DCs to identify all residential general pool quarters, to evict all unauthorised occupants.

He said mass inspection will be undertaken to check unauthorized occupancies of government quarters both in the hill and valley. Warning will be given to those unauthorised occupants. If they fail to vacate quarters disciplinary action will be taken up against those occupants. He also instructed to all DCs to monitored ongoing developmental works in their concerned jurisdiction and asked them to visit the site.

The meeting was attended by Commisioner Works, Shri K.Radhakumar, Chief Engineer Public Works Department, Shri Ch Tiken, DCs and representatives from nine Districts excluding Imphal East and Imphal West.

Deputy commissioner of Kangpokpi district reported that there is need to identify and crosscheck the occupants in government quarters. Representative from Churachandpur Districts reported that they had finished identification of occupants and repairing works are needed in most of the quarters. Representative from Bishnupur district reported that they had conducted extensive survey and found out that even after retirement many are still occupying the government quarters without paying rental fees in terms of lakhs. They also reported that they had asked Treasury Department to deduct the rental fees from their pension or salary. Representative from Tamenglong District reported that most of the government quarters are illegally occupied. And representative of Senapati District reported that there are 173 government quarters and most of them are in bad condition.
