Hockey Union booked theirs berth to the final beating SYUC Uchekon by 5-3 during penalty shot after both team were locked with 2-2 goals in the normal time in the 5th S.Rashmani Memorial Seven a Side Mens Open Hockey Tournament 2017 played at Hockey Stadium, Khuman Lampak.
Both team had a tough fight for a place in the final as Hockey Union got the lead from Kh.Rinal in the 4 minute but the very next minute, SYUC fetch the equaliser through Romen in the 5 minute to level 1-1. SYUC makes further lead when Romen fetch his second goal in the 26 minute. Hockey Union rolls back into action with Kh.Rinal striking home the equaliser in the 37 minute and continue to hold fort till the final whistle, for the decider.
In the subsequent penalty push, Hockey Union struck home three goals from W.Robinson, T.Ricky, Th.Kingson while for SYUC team, only Dhananjoy was able to beat the keeper.
In the second semi final, FCI Imphal drubbed Khongman Students Club by 8-0 goals. L.Mantosh scored a hattrick while Kh.Wangamba, M.Robert fetch two goals each and M.Sanjoymani chip in with one goal, enroute to the final.
