“ADMISSION NO.857”

Public Works, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Information and Public Relations, Administrative Reforms and Training, Power and Commerce and Industries Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh, yesterday released a book “Admission No. 857” in the presence of Education, Labour & Employment Minister Shri Th Radheshyam Singh and Lt Gen K Himalay Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd) and chairman MPSC.

The book is authored by Col N. Hemachandra Singh. The book releasing function was held at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound.

Addressing the function, Minister Biswajit said through reading books we gain knowledge. Recounting experiences from his school life, the Minister also expressed gratitude to the teachers who helped shape the lives of their students. He said once a teacher, the person will remain a teacher for life. A teacher shapes his student’s life and help him become successful in life, he added.

He also said that different people will have different qualities, however, everyone should carry out their duties and responsibilities assigned to them with utmost sincerity for the society to grow.

Minister Biswajit also said that, there is no end in the learning process and we should never stop. He further urged the youth to be self confident, encourage positive energy and work hard for a better society.

Lt Gen K. Himalay Singh, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd) in his short speech said that, Manipur has one of the highest numbers of Army officers per capita of population in the country. He said the State has more than 750 Army officers approximately.

Minister Radheshyam urged the people to cultivate the habit of reading books. He said “The words we speak, we write. Words spoken can make you cry, make you laugh, can make you rich, can make you poor and it can empower you.”

He also said life is all about taking risk and challenges and there is no life if we don’t take risk, he added.

The function was also attended by Teacher and Sr Master Sainik School Imphal (retd) Shri L. Ajit Singh, Head Master, national Children School, Khongman Shri W.Kunjo Singh and Sainik School, Imphal Alumni Association president Shri N.Ibungochoubi Singh as guests of honour. (DIPR)
