BJP alleges previous government for black marketing PDS rice worth Rs 300 crore

BJP Manipur has alleged the previous government run by Congress responsible for blackmarketing PDS rice for five months that would worth around Rs.300 crore.
Thounaojam Chaoba, convenor of the state BJP election management committee talking to reporters at BJP office today said PDS rice worth Rs. 144 crore and Rs. 55 lakh were found sold out to the black marketers.
“The overall quantity of all the districts for the months of last November till March the scam would reach the value of around Rs. 300 crore”, said Chaoba.
It was found out that the rice meant for public to be distributed at Rs. 3 per kg was selling in the market at the rate ranging from Rs. 25 to Rs. 30 per kg, said Chaoba.
Citing that the rice quota of Nambol assembly constituency for a month is 1,79,400 kgs, the black marketers had earned a profit of Rs.2, 24,25,000 by selling the five months quota of Nambol, alleged Chaoba.
Chaoba said the MLAs of the last government were responsible for the rice scam. The stolen rice should be returned, added Chaoba.
