People recalls June Uprising day

People at large thronged at Kekrupat to pay tribute to the souls of the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the 2001 June integrity movement.

Public leaders and people from various communities and from various sections of the society paid floral tribute to the departed souls of the 18 persons who were killed during an agitation for the protection of the territorial integrity of Manipur on June 18, 2001.

The annual occasion was spearheaded by the All Manipur United Clubs Organisationation and the United Committee Manipur.

The mass response of the people to call for unity in the state shows that no forces can disintegrate the love and integrity of the said a public who took part in the uprising day, while talking to Pothasang.

Police beefed up security measures to ensure that there was no law and order problem during the function.

The ongoing ceasefire with the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (Isak-Muivah) was extended “without territorial limits” on June 14, 2001 at a meeting held with the representatives of the Union government in Bangkok.
