This was stated by IFCD/YAS Minister Shri Letpao Haokip while addressing a gathering at Indoor Stadium, Chandel district headquarters yesterday during a felicitation cum interaction programme organized by a local committee.

Shri Letpao Haokip, who is also the MLA of 41-Chandel (ST) AC, urged the people to commit themselves to make Chandel one of the most developed districts of the State. He urged people of the district to extend maximum cooperation to the developmental initiatives of the Government and make the officials coming from outside the district feel homely so that the officials give their best to develop the district.

The district will move to the path of progress and prosperity when officials posted in the district feel the warmth and hospitality of the locals, he said while urging the people to support the various developmental activities initiated by the Government instead of causing disturbances to them.

Calling upon people of the district to cultivate work culture, Shri Letpao also encouraged them to create resource which is identifiable with the district. Stressing on individual’s role for the development of the district, the Minister assured that people of the district get their due shares – be it development and welfare schemes.

“I do not belong to a particular community. I am your MLA. Come forward with your problems and we should together find ways to solve them,” he said.

He also said that no officials or persons involved in misappropriation of public fund would be spared and fitting punitive action should be taken against them. He further said that the functioning of the district administration should be streamlined. He instructed the civil and police officers of the district to get closer to the local people so that a healthy relation is maintained.

The Minister also expressed unhappiness over the lack of quality maintenance in Pallel-Chandel road repair. Calling for quality maintenance in all works, the Minister said giving just ‘cosmetic’ touch to works will serve no purpose.

Deputy Commissioner of Chandel Krishna Kumar; SP of Chandel, Kamei Angam Romanus and various DLOs of the district attended the programme.

Shri Letpao Haokip, prior to the public meeting, inspected the progress of the construction of 50-bedded District Hospital, Chandel.
