SHYAMKUMAR INAUGURATES SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURES AS PART OF GOVERNMENT’S 100 DAYS PROGRAMME

Thounaojam Shyamkumar, Minister of MAHUD, today inaugurated 10 additional rooms and girls’ hostel each at the Moirangpurel High School, Moirangpurel and at the Azad Higher Secondary School, Yairipok in Andro Assembly Constituency (AC), Imphal East. The students welcomed the dignitaries with welcome song and cultural programmes.

The infrastructures were inaugurated as part of the State Government’s 100 days programme. The State Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri. N. Biren Singh is completing 100 days in office tomorrow (25.06.2017). The infrastructures were constructed under the Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP) Scheme under the funding of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India. District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Imphal East is the Nodal and the implementing agency.

Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function at Moirangpurel High School, Minister Th. Shyamkumar commended the students for topping and achieving 100 % pass percentage among the Government schools in the recently conducted examination. The Minister said, the newly inaugurated girls’ hostel has a capacity of 210 students and the boys’ hostel can accommodate 205 students. Moirangpurel High School has a total strength of 665 students at present.

Stating that the State Government is planning to set up Kendriya Vidyalaya in Andro AC, Shyamkumar expressed his hope that it will boost the quality of education for the constituency. He believed that for overall progress of the State there is a need for development in Food Security, Education, Health, Communication and Human Resource sectors. He was hopeful that the State can swiftly progress if all the elected representatives and bureaucrats collectively work together.

Taking serious note on various unwanted incidents and problems caused to the commuters due to narrow roads, Minister Shyamkumar said, he will send a proposal to the Chief Minister for widening of the road from Moirangpurel to Imphal.

On the other hand, after inaugurating 10 additional rooms and girls’ hostel at Azad Higher Secondary School, Yairipok, Shyamkumar said, his emphasis is to impart education to the girl students for the better development of the State. He also said his dream is to make Azad Higher Secondary School, one of the best schools in the North East region and appealed for full co-operation from all the stakeholders to make his dream into reality. He also gave assurance that an auditorium hall will be constructed with funding from the MLA Local Area Development Fund as the present hall is unable to accommodate all the students.

Ameising Luikham, Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, Government of India, advised the students to choose a career path right after Class X examination. He said, the students should draw inspiration from their elders and work sincerely to succeed in life. He said, although the Union Ministry of Minority and Affairs gives fund for the infrastructure development under various schemes/projects, it is the duty of the State Government to look after the maintenance work.

Asab Uddin, Parliamentary Secretary, lauded Shyamkumar and gave full credit for transforming and bringing development in the Andro Assembly Constituency. Asab Uddin, who is also the MLA of Jiribam, said, he is trying to bring development in Jiribam drawing inspiration from Shyamkumar.

Th. Chitra Devi, District Collector, Imphal East, said, she is happy over the timely completion of the projects today, which is included under the 100 days programme of the State Government. She appreciated Minister Shyamkumar for his dedication on the education sector since his days as an MLA.

Th. Chitra Devi appealed to all the stakeholders, including the people of the Andro AC to pursue in making the Azad Higher Secondary School as one of the model schools in the North East region. She lauded the teaching, non-teaching staffs and the school management for the schools’ success when there private schools are mushrooming in the State.

Ahead of the inauguration, Th. Shyamkumar led by the dignitaries inspected the Moirangpurel Primary Health Centre (PHC) building and the staff quarter which is uder-construction.
