IDEAL BLIND SCHOOL STUDENTS CALLED OFF THE AGITATION AFTER MINISTER INTERVENES

With the timely intervention by the Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Smt. Nemcha Kipgen, agitation by students of Ideal Blind School, Takyelpat was immediately called off today.

The Minister attends to the grievances of the students at her office chamber, New Secretariat, Imphal in the presence of the students’ representatives of the school, Principal Secretary (Social Welfare) Shri JC Ramthanga, officials of the department, Principal and staff of the school.

Some of their grievances include construction of new toilets, proper infrastructure, furniture and water reservoir with clean drinking water. She assured all their demands will be taken care of immediately and gave minimum time of one month to fulfil their grievances. For time being, she assured the demands for two separate toilets for boys and girls will starts with the construction of low cost toilet by tomorrow itself. Supplies of electricity was immediately resolved today itself by Joint Director (Social Welfare), Smt Surrender A Shishak by paying the electric bills of Rs.10,000 from her own pocket.

Nemcha welcomes the genuine grievances of the students anytime before her and appeal the students to go hand in hand with their teachers by giving them utmost respect; only then everything can be sorted out. There is nothing in this world that cannot be sorted out through proper communication and interaction, she added.

During the interaction with the Minister, the students’ representatives expressed that their agitation was towards the school authority for not taking up their grievances to the concerned authority and higher officials at the right time. The students expressed gratitude towards Minister Nemcha for ardently listening to them and for timely intervention of their needs.
