CM INAUGURATES SANTHEI NATURAL PARK, ANDRO

Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh inaugurated Santhei Natural Park, Andro today.

Infrastructure development of the park is funded by North Eastern Council (NEC) in 2013-14. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 478.00 lakhs out of which 90 per cent was borne by North Eastern Council (NEC) and 10 per cent as State matching share.

Chief Minister Shri N. Biren while speaking at the inauguration function said that the State Government would not slow down the pace of taking developmental activities even after the accomplishment of the tasks included in 100 days programme.

Stating that BJP National General Secretary Shri Ram Madhav would arrive the State capitaltomorrow, the Chief Minister disclosed that in consultation with the Central leader, the State Government would announce the list of works to be completed in the coming one year soon.

The Chief Minister also announced that considering the park’s potential for attracting foreign and domestic tourists, the Government would construct a ring pathway of the park soon.

Moreover, efforts would be made to add more infrastructures to the park as wished by the people of the area, he added.

In his speech, Works and IPR Minister Shri Th. Biswajit stressed on the need to be prepared for the Act East Policy.

Stating that the State has many caves, the Minister opined that these caves can be developed as major tourists destinations with the technical know-how and help from China.

He said that he had discussed with Chinese officials on bilateral co-operation on many fields during his recent visit to China.

Among others Forest and Environment Minister Shri Th. Shyamkumar, Parliamentary Secretaries Dr S. Ranjan, Shri L. Susindro, Kumbi AC MLA Shri S. Bira, Secretary (Tourism) Shri N. Ashok Kumar, Advisor to CM Shri Rajat Sethi and high ranking civil and police officials also attended the function.

Santhei Natural Park is an outcome of the Andro villagers’ zeal for the conservation of nature and its rational utilization. An artificial dam has been routed making it enchantingly beautiful and serving as water body cum source of public utility.
