Nabakishore serves notice for retirement – people agitates against replacing Chief Secretary

Former chief secretary Oinam Nabakishore (IAS) today served notice to retire voluntarily from the Indian administrative service, just a day after Rajni Ranjan Rasmi replaced him as chief secretary of Manipur.

R.R. Rasmi (IAS) was appointed as the chief secretary and chief vigillance commissioner of Manipur with immediate effect in place of Nabakishore. He was posted as director general, State Academy of Training.

Nabakishore decided to retire voluntarily from his service on October 9 on personal ground from the post of director general SAT, according to the notice served to the state government.

People of Ningthoukhong, Bishnupur today blocked roads at Ningthoukhong Bazar in agitation against the termination of Nabakishore from the post of chief secretary.

Nabakishore belongs to Bishnupur.

People were of the view that the replacement of Nabakishore by R.R Rashmi on the reason of public interest as cited by the governor’s order is not reasonable.

Immediately after news of replacement of Nabakishore yesterday people came out on the street of Tiddim road, Ningthoukhong demanding to withdraw the order. They had the view that Nabakishore was the first local Manipuri who became the chief secretary of the state.
