1st EVER STATE LEVEL INDIGENOUS WRESTING CHAMPIONSHIP HELD

As part of the 45th Raising day celebration of the Autonomous District Council, Senapati, the first ever  state level open indigenous wresting championship tournament was organised by Autonomous District Council, Senapati under the aegis of the State Government of Manipur today at the mini stadium, Senapati District Head quarter.

Speaking as the Chief guest, Sri. M.L. Markson, Chairman, Autonomous District Council, Senapati appreciated the Government of Manipur for helping in bring up this championship to the state level. He further said that it is the only Indigenous Wresting Championship tournament in Manipur and it will help in preserving and the promotion of our dying traditional sports. He also mentioned that Autonomous District Council, Senapati in spite of limited funds and resources is working for the people and is committed to work for the welfare of the people and  seek corporation from the public.

The two day championship tournament is being participated by 121 participants from all over the state. It is being organised in two categories, one below 65 kg and another about 65 kg.

In today’s opening function of the championship tournament was also attended by Sri.Hingba John, Vice Chairman, Autonomous District Council, Senapati, and all the district level officers of Senapati district. (DIPR)
