CIRCA OBSERVES MANIPUR INDEPENDENCE DAY

Independence Day of Manipur was observed in different parts of the state with a significant function held at Manipur’s palace, today.

The observation was organised by the Collision of Indigenous’ Rights Campaign (CIRCA), Manipur.

Titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba hoisted the merun colour flag at the palace compound in Imphal, to mark the observation of the Independence Day. The same flag was said hoisted by the then king of Budhichandra in 1947 on the same day.

The observation was participated by various civil society organisations and student bodies.

CIRCA demanded that the state government should observe the Independence Day of Manipur. It believes that the present scenario of communal hatred in the state, imposition of AFSPA, influx, etc, can be done away with only when Manipur retain its pre merger agreement status.
