POLICE RECOVERS LARGE QUANTITY OF EXPLOSIVES

State Police has recovered large quantity of explosive materials from three persons who were arrested in connection with the IED blast at Kakwa Naorem Leikai, Imphal yesterday.

Following the blast that took place at around 9: 40 am yesterday, police swung into action with massive raids and search at different places. The police got the information that the blast was carried out by PREPAK cadres who works under Aheiba Ngangom @ Tomcha @ Premkumar @ B Koijam of Bashikhong who is the finance in charge of PREPAK (VC).

In the raid Sapam Nanda @ Makar, 50, son of S. Sanatomba, a cadre of the outfit was apprehended. He revealed that two persons Pipa Yaima Maring, 29 son of B. Angphun of Kangkoi Khullen under Machi police station and Thingbaijam Sanjoy, 35 son of Th. Dronjit of Kakwa Naorem Leikai. The two persons were arrested yesterday itself.

They have confessed that they had exploded the IED using a remote control device from a distance of about 300 meters.  They disclosed of explosive materials kept hidden at different places which were to be used to explode during the Independence Day celebrations.

The items recovered were 81 numbers of Gelatin Sticks (power gel), two TNT case weighing 500 gm each, six circuits, one remote control device, three mobile phones and five SIM cards.

Police has registered a case at Singjamei police station.
