Independence Day celebrated in Tamenglong HQ

Despite heavy rain and unfavorable weather condition the 71st Independence Day was celebrated at the Lower ground, Tamenglong District headquarters today with Shri Armstrong Pame, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Tamenglong as Chief Guest.

As soon as he arrived at the parade ground he received the guard of honour from the parade commander and inspected the parade contingents. After the inspection Deputy Commissioner took the salute from the different 23 parade contingents of students, civil police and local NGOs. Speaking at the celebration Armstrong Pame said as per the video conference held on 9th August 2017 with the Honorable Prime Minister of India, he quoted, the PM insisted to involve the public and take stock of the field reality and to focus more on the field works rather than just concentrating on the files.

He also said, Tamenglong is now the focus district of the entire state and also the only district that is blessed to have maximum central projects starting from railways to power grid to national highways.  The NH-37 Imphal-Jiri road will be upgraded to four lane status whereas Tamenglong-Khongsang road will also upgrade to double lane very soon.

He also mentioned regarding the water supply project that the government of Manipur and DoNER has agreed for funding under NLCPR. The process has also taken up to replace the old market of Tamenglong and construct Apei Rani Market at the old location of the PWD godown areas very soon.

Under the leadership of MLA Samuel Jendai and Awangbou Newmei the people of Tamenglong district will see a change and development in the field of education, power, banking system, roads and transport and health sector within a short period of time the Deputy Commissioner added.

Civil Society Organizations, District Level Officers and Officials, and security personnel also attended the celebration. (DIPR)
