A member of a gang who happens to be a vehicle lifter was today arrested from Lilong Kaleikhong.
At about 9.00 am on receiving a reliable information about the presence of armed gang members at Kaleikhong area, a joint operation was launched by a combined team of Thoubal police commando and 6 AR at Kaleikhong Turel Ahanbi.
In the operation one suspicious unknown person was detained for proper verification. He was identified as Md. Ayajuddin (25) son of Late Md. Jamalludin of Leihaokhong Mamei, a member of gang of vehicle lifters and robbers.
On body search, one Toy gun was recovered from his possession. On further examination he stated that he used to snatch mobile, extort money and hijack vehicles using his toy gun. Further he stated that he used to steal gas cylinder and Water pump (Tulu) etc. At his instance one electric water pump was recovered from a place near Kaleikhong bridge.
He was arrested from the spot at 10.00 a.m. and the toy gun and the electric water pump were seized from his possession.
The arrested person along with seized articles are handed over to Lilong police for further necessary action.
