Imphal, August 30: A joint team of state police and 5th JAK Rifles have apprehended one former self style corporal of UNLF along with a modified AK Rifles and a fake police vehicle.
He was identified as Salam Dinachandra Meitei @ Poireiton (39) son of S. Naranbabu Meitei resident of Kiyam Mayai Leikai, Patsoi, Imphal West from his residence this morning.
One AK-56 type modified DBBL gun bearing regd No. 112646, one Maruti Gypsy white in colour bearing regd. No. MN1A/4977, one forged gun licence one mobile phone along with one Airtel SIM card.
Following an information about the presence of one armed cadre of UNLF at Kiyam Mayal Leikai, the joint force conducted an operation was conducted under the command of RK Saklemba, Dy. Sp (Ops), East District, OC, Army Camp Patsoi, 5 JAK Rifles, under the overall supervision of M. Kumarjit Addl. SP (Ops), Imphal East.
In the operation Dinachandra was detained at his residence at 5:00 a.m. along with one AK-56 type modified DBBL Gun, one forged Gun Licence, one mobile phone and one Maruti Gypsy duly marked/labelled as SDMK/IW on both doors (L&R) and 4977 within a circle similar to the label/mark on the vehicles of CDO/IW.
He admitted the police that he forged his expired gun licence and modified his 066110 to look like AK-56 Assault Rifle. He also admitted that he painted his gypsy to look like commando vehicle which he used along with his AK-56 type modified DBBL Gun to intimidate the public as Manipur Police Commandos.
