RAM LAL PAUL HIGHER. SECONDARY SCHOOL BECOME THE TEAM CHAMPION

Imphal, September 3, 2017 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam Singh said that knowledge, skill and discipline with consistent hard work is necessary to become successful not only for competition but for life also. He was speaking as Chief Guest at the Closing Function of the 2nd Inter School Arm Wrestling Meet, 2017 at Kakwa Community Hall. The event was organised by The Manipur Arm Wrestling Association.

Participated by nearly 280 students from 35 different schools of the state, Ram Lal Paul Higher Secondary School became team champion with 63 points in the boy’s category. The runner – up was bagged by Azad English School with 38 points. In the girl’s team, Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School claimed the team Champion with 34 points and with 26 points, Khongjom Standard English School, the runner-up.

Th. Radheshyam said that the meet is an opportunity for the students from different schools to interact and meet each other, sharing their experiences and ideas. This event will also give the students a chance to develop team spirit to work together, he added.

The deciding factor of the competition is not the final but a chance to better oneself preparing to face for tougher and complicated situation for the bigger challenges that lies ahead, the Minister explained. Any examination or competition should be treated as a moment to identify the weakness and the strength of oneself, he added.

Ex – Minister Shri O. Joy Singh, the Chief Veteran of Manipur Arm Wrestling Association, shedding light on the history of Arm Wrestling said that games and sports have become part of education. He expressed his desire to upgrade the game to district as well as state level and wished the players to bring laurels to the state and country by representing in the national and international competitions.

The three-day event from September 1– 3, 2017, participated by teachers, students and organizing members, concluded today. Prizes were also distributed.
