42ND ANNIVERSARY OF MANIPUR CRICKET ASSOCIATION CELEBRATED

IMPHAL, SEPTEMBER 16, 2017 (DIPR): The 42nd Anniversary of Manipur Cricket Association (MCA) was held at the Classic Grande, Chingmeirong today. At the function, floral tributes were paid to the late four founder members of the MCA. An anniversary souvenir was also released at the function.

Speaking as the Chief Guest of the function, Th. Shyamkumar, Minister MAHUD, Town Planning, Forests and Environment and Horticulture and Soil Conservation said that we need to give support to the young players from the grassroots level. Stating that the State has a tendency of felicitating players only after their achievements, Th. Shyamkumar said rather we should physically or financially support the young players so that there is no hurdle in achieving their dreams. 

Shyamkumar also spoke on importance of maintaining funds for every sports discipline so that young players can be supported at the time of need. He also appealed to the young as well as senior cricketers to work hard so that they can bring laurels for the State.

Prabin Singh, IAS, Director Youth Affairs and Sports (YAS), speaking as the Guest of Honour, informed the gathering that MCA will soon received fund of Rs 9.76 crore from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for the construction of gallery at the Luwangshangbam Cricket Stadium. Flood lighting would be installed at the stadium soon, he added. He also appealed for the support of the MCA members to help in taking the cricket movement in the State to the next level.

MLA RK Imo Singh, President of Manipur Cricket Association graced the function as the President of the function. Members of MCA, former players, senior and junior players among others also attended the function.
