Imphal, September 18: Needy Home Academy of Mapao Zingtun Khullen, Awang Sekmai, Saikul Block, Senapati district has drawn the attention that the school is reeling under a crucial stage and there is need for recognition from the government of Manipur up to the secondary level.
Needy Home Academy is a residential school established with the vision to impart quality education with sound spiritual and moral principles to the needy who are not in a position to go to well-regarded institutions in the cities. Through our school, they are now exposed to a very decent education system right in this hamlet without compromising with the standard of the modern education system, said R. Chance, chairman of the school while he launched its two days long 14th annual literary meet, today.
The school is harbouring students from all the districts of Manipur, except Pherjawl and few of them are from neighboring state like Nagaland, Tripura, Assam, Myanmar border and even from Thailand, said the school chairman.
The school has total enrollment of 426 students with 26 teachers. The school accommodates 79 children from the Orphanage Home giving them free education and also provides all their needs. Most importantly they are inculcated with the sense of brotherhood; there is no discrimination among the children based on communal line, he added.
The school, established in 2004, has been recognised up to class VIII in the year 2016. The pursuit of Government’s permission to open up to class IX and X had started during the tenure of N. Praveen, the then director of education (S). The same is still under process. The need for obtaining the permission to open up to class IX (nine) coupled with the new orders from the state Government for private schools are cause of concern to the school managing committee.
The bleak and grim prospect of the school recognition from the concerned authority is one of the biggest challenges right now. The burden and vision that we have for the society which could be executed through educating these children are at stake.
The chairman requested the invitees present in the function to join hands to face these challenges together and said, your contribution and helps towards the recognition and development of the school will be greatly valued, remembered and cherished.
On the occasion Poonam Wangkhem, MPCC general secretary, P. Landhoni, N. Tomba president and advisor of All Manipur Private Schools Association respectively, and M. Angamba and Santosh, president and advisor of DESAM were invited.
The burden is not only up to secondary level, but up to Higher Secondary level. The time frame for moulding of the students till class X, is what we feel quite inadequate; perhaps we will be satisfied to certain extend if we are given the opportunity to train them till the level of 12th standard said, the school chairman.
