Imphal, September 21: Coalition for Indigenes’ Rights Campaign Manipur, CIRCA observed National Repentance Day at Sana Konung (royal temple), here recalling the Manipur merger agreement.

Angom Ningthou of Utra Sanglen said Manipur has various issues which remains unsolved. We realised that the issues be solved only when Manipur regain pre merger status.

Paosing Golmei, co-convener of CIRCA said, although the people of Manipur are aware that Manipur was a sovereign state but seems to have completely forgotten that it was forcively merged to the Government of India. Most people do not take it seriously. The original cultures and traditions of the state became weak due to the intervention of external forces, he added.

The Manipur flag that wore the emblem of Lord Pakhangba was flown half-mast at the observance. A two minutes silence was observed.

Various civil society organisations and members of student bodies took part in the National Repentance Day.
