Heavy rain and landslides kill one: cut off connectivity

Imphal, September 22:One railway construction labour died and one injured at Nungtek under Noney district when a landslide yesterday hit the railway construction site, said a source.

Normal life has been disturbed in Tamenglong and other parts of Manipur following land slides due to incessant heavy rains in the past few days.

A massive landslide which occured at Inrailong, Khongjaron lasnight along Tamenglong-Khongshang road has also cut off connectivity. Vehicles and commutaters were stranded at the both sides of the mudslides.

Landslides were also occurer in other parts of the district.

The rain and its impact have created a havoc in harvesting the ripen rice both for the jhuming cultivation and wet-paddy fields, said a villager.

Landslides were also occured at Kachai road on September 19 that has troubled transport in that part of Ukhrul.

The landslides were also occured along Sangngaikot to Bungmuol village,T Khuongkhai road to New New Bijang and Zalenkot Phaimuol along the Baite, in Churachandpur district.

Imphal-Moreh road was cut off for a day by landslide very recently.
