Royal Riders trip to Peren

Imphal, September 29: Royal Riders Manipur (RRM), a local club of Royal Enfield riders today kicked off its “Nagaland Paren Medical Camp Ride” from DM College road near Thangmeiband Athletic Union ground, here.

Fiftyone riders on 30 Royal Enfield bullet bikes left Imphal this morning to conduct a free medical camp at Tenning village in Paren district of Nagaland.

The camp will be conducted tomorrow in association with Nagaland Motor Cycle Club, a group of Royal Enfield riders of Nagaland. Six doctors accompanied the adventure for the medical camp.

Ziit Saikhom, general secretary, RRM said “This is a mission to build brotherhood between the Manipur and Nagaland”.

The bikers will travel through Tengnoupal and Senapati districts and drive along the Maram Peren road. Imphal to Peren is a distance of about 192 km.

After the camp the Royal Riders will travel back towards Dimapur and return along the Imphal-Dimapur road to reach Imphal on October 2.

Royal riders are a composite of various like minded professionals which includes doctors, engineers, mechanics, artists, policemen, businessmen, etc.

Royal Riders Manipur was formally established in 2007.  Motivated with ‘Serving through Adventure’ RRM had travelled in the interior parts of the state and the North East and conducted several environment awareness campaigns and medical camps among other humanity services. People calls them as “Angels on the Wheels” or otherwise as “Macho Riders” by others.

“We carry tents, medical box and sleeping bags whenever we travel. We have been to Sikkim, Tripura, Shillong, Mizoram, Tawang of Arunacal Pradesh”, said Ziit. “Adventurous ride is fun and serving people is our pleasure”, added Ziit.

The bikers club organises external tour outside the state once a year. Environmental campaign related activities are conducted throughout the year. It targets to conduct at least two medical camps at remote areas, a year.

We make contributions from our own pockets to make our missions successful, added Ziit.
