Imphal, October 4: People For Animals (PFA), Thoubal, today relocated rescued wild animals at Yangoupokpi Lokchao Wild Life Sanctury, Tengnoupal district along the Indo-Myanmar border.
The volunteers of the largest animal welfare organisation in the state relocate one each of Leopard Cat, Bengal Slow loris, Serpent Eagle, Monitor Lizard, monkey, and four of Asian Leaf Turtle.
L.Biswajeet Meitei, Managing Trustee, PFA said, among the animals relocated today the Slow Loris was the most distinct and and rare species.
The relocation of the animals was conducted to mark the 6th Foundation Day of PFA and in significance of the World Animal Day, and also observation of National Wild Life Week.
L.Biswajeet Meitei, Managing Trustee, PFA said, seven Malayan Box turtle will be relocated at Keibul Lamjao National Park tomorow amid the celebration of Wildlife Week.
He said, the animals were rescued by PFA Manipur from different parts of the state. The animals were provided necessary care and medical assistance when they sheltered in PFAs animal house, added Biswajeet.
People for Animals, Thoubal is a trustee of conservator of forests/wildlife, Manipur.
With the permission of Chief Wildlife Warden, Anurag Bajpai, the animals were relocated at Yangoupokpi Wildlife Sanctuary along with the superintendent of police of Tengnoupal, Dr. Ibomcha Singh, said Biswajeet.
Biswajeet thanked the senior police officer and his team for his participation and the cooperation extended in the mission.
According to the state forest department, the sanctuary supports 42 species of mammals, 74 species of aves, 29 species of reptiles, 6 species of amphibia, 86 species of fishes. Yangoupokpi Wild Life Sanctury is about 110 kms from Imphal.
