Biren to attend Bhoomi Puja of Barak and Makru Bridges

Imphal, October 10: Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh will be attending the “Bhoomi Puja of Barak and Makru Bridges” on Thursday, 12th October.
Due process had been initiated to construct RCC bridges in place of the existing Barak and Makru bridges of Imphal-Jiribam highway during the previous Congress government last year.
After the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways sanctioned around Rs 100 crore, National Highway Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) had been earlier entrusted for the construction as reported last year.
The estimated cost of the two bridges was Rs 100 crore approximately; Rs 60 crore for Barak bridge and Rs 40 crore for Makru bridge.
