Five employees apprehended

Imphal, October: At least five employees wete apprehended by the police while they were protesting in front of the old secretariat, today.
Those who have been arrested were A Indubala and N. Jugeshwor of Education Department, M Iboyaima of Manipur Secretariat, General Secretary of LDA Employees’ Union, P Shyamkumar and L Deben of LDA.
Various state government departments  were paralysed as the Manipur government Services’ Federation took mass casual leave in order to put pressure on the government to implement the 7th Central Pay recommendation.
The agitation paralysed functioning of various main departments including secretariat and Works.
General secretary of the federation, L Purujit said, even as the 7th pay commission was introduced more than one and a half years ago, it has still not been implemented in Manipur.
The agitation will continue until the government gives in writing that it would implement the latest pay commission, said Purujit.
He praised the steps being taken by the chief secretary as praiseworthy.
