Congress and Shiv Sena react on absence of NPF

Imphal, October 29: Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee and Shiv Sena Manipur unit reacting over the absence of Naga People’s Front (NPF) at the all political party meeting held yesterday at the chief minister’s secretariat termed NPF as NSCN IM supporters.

Vice president of Manipur PCC, T. Mangibabu said, “What NSCN IM wants is either to break the integrity or something similar to it. It is kept concealed. NPF’s absence in the meeting reveals their support to NSCN IM.”

President Shiv Sena Manipur unit, M. Tombi said “It is very clear that their absence in yesterday’s meeting shows their support to the demand of the NSCN IM.”

The Naga issue brought the all political party meeting to discuss on the possible impact on the territorial integrity of Manipur and to defend from disturbing the unity of the state at the conclusion of the Indo-Naga peace talk.

Except NPF, the all political party meeting was attended by CPI, AAP, CPM, INC, NCP, NPP, NEIDP, JD-U, JD-S, JD-AL, PDF, PRJA, Shiv Sena and MNDF.

The meeting chaired by chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh decided to depute members of the consultative committee formed by the state government on this issue to Delhi and to meet concerned important stake holders of Government of India and to know the latest developments and facts at the earliest .

All the parties present in the meeting would pursue the government of India through their respective Central leaders to preserve and protect the oneness of Manipur at any circumstances.

It also resolved to send a delegation of all political parties to the Centre to highlight the issue and its importance to the Prime Minister and other leaders, if necessary.

People in the state have been pressing to reveal what is in the ‘framework agreement’ signed between the NSCN IM and the government of India on August 3, 2015.

Suspicion of possible disintegration of some states in the NE region grew high after interlocutor RN Ravi visit to Nagaland and held a closed door meeting with six stakeholders.

In a press statement, the NPF, Manipur state unit pledged to work for unity and integrity of the ‘people’ by integrating all contiguous Naga inhabited areas under one administrative roof and also to provide protection to all the ethnic groups who are indigenous inhabitants of all Naga inhabited areas .

It stated that NPF Manipur State unit would not participate in the all political parties meeting said party’s state unit president W. Morung Makunga and general secretary (administration) Honreikhui Kashung and cautioned that if any NPF leader or member participated in the meeting, they should not be counted as official representatives of the party.
