State leaders greet on Kut

Imphal, October 31: Governor Dr. Najma Heptulla and chief minister Nongthobam Biren Singh greets the people of the state particularly to the KukiChin-Mizo community on Kut Festival which falls tomorrow.

Najma said the festival symbolizes peace, harmony and unity transcending the barriers of caste, creed or religion. “Let the spirit of Kut embrace one and all to strengthen the social fabric more than ever and bring prosperity to all the communities in the state”, said Najma.

Biren Singh in his greetings said “The spirit of Kut is all about sharing, understanding, harmonious co-existence, co-operation and merriment. Kut festival has now come to occupy an important place in the hearts of all the people of Manipur”. He wished that Kut festival would spread the message of love, peace, compassion and forgiveness among the people of Manipur and the celebration of the festival in its true spirit will help in ensuring peaceful coexistence among all the ethnic groups in the state.

The festival, Kut is the biggest and post harvest festival of KukiChin-Mizo groups of people, which is an occasion of thanksgiving to God for the bountiful harvest.

Forest and environment Mminister Th. Shyamkumar, social welfare minister Nemcha Kipgen, CAF & PD Minister Karam Shyam also wished the people of the state for a harmonious Manipur with the celebration of the Kut festival.
