First Sin – Lang Fest kicks off today

Imphal November 3: A three-day Sin – Lang Fest was today launched at DM Collge campus organised by the department of BBA, of DM College of Commerce, Imphal.

The title “Sin-Lang” is derived from the words Sinba and Langba from the Manipur ethnic language which means “Management”, said the organisor.

During the university level festival there will be dance competitions, debate, essay, quiz, recitation, spelling, painting, photography and spot advertisement competitions. It will also have “Funk the Junk” competition, mobile legend tournament, vainglory and treasure hunt competitions.

There will a beauty pageant tomorrow and rock concert the day after, which are the main vent of the first Sin-Lang Fest.

Education minister Thokchom Radheshyam Singh said, the educational institutions are the most holiest places where every youth from every religion comes to learn and nurture their future. He said, it is very unfortunate that the educational institution which holds the key for future of the students is constantly under threat being encroached by the people living in and around.

The educational institutions are belonged to all the people and the society. However, these institutions are being manipulated for some personal gain and that need to be stopped.

The Minister was speaking as Chief Guest at the first ever Sin – Lang Fest 2017 – a three day event organised by the Department of BBA, D. M. College of Commerce, Imphal.

He said man, since birth, has to manage in every step of life. Utilising the best of available resources, within the constraints, to present in the best presentable way is called the best manager. Management is an inseparable part of life. The right and the best management in life can lead one to success. In life mistakes should be taken as a lesson and opportunity to learn and improve by becoming creative and innovative, he added.

Parliamentary secretary Leishangthem Susindro Meitei said that the event is like a practical for the students to make themselves aware and gain experience in the event management. He also said that the students need to participate in the events organised by the other colleges and universities to learn and develop their skills in this field.

Principal of the college said that such a festival is being organised to enhance the competency and skills of the students.

Principals from different colleges, professors, non teaching staff and students attended the inaugural function of the Sin – Lang fest 2017.
