ITI students burn vehicles

Imphal, 9 November, 2017:  Students of ITI Imphal today set ablaze two ambassador cars belonged to the technology institute for not fulfilling their demand for upgrading college infrastructure.

About fifty students including boys and girls of the ITI Imphal took up the agitation burning down the condemned vehicles at about noon.

The agitating students said the promise made by minister Radheshyam remains unfulfilled.

In a press statement released by the AMISU on October 26 stated that Radheshyam has made an assurance in a discussion with the Principal (Joint Director), ITI Imphal, Takyel, General Secretary, Secretary and other representatives of AMISU to improve the infrastructure and functioning of all ITIs of Manipur. He also asserted that those having now general qualification of Class X Standard with diploma got promotion to higher ranks upto principal and the irregular attendance were being checked.

He stated that all the district ITIs are not functioning properly and unqualified persons are in charge of Principals and Superintendent and some of the buildings are found with trees growing inside buildings and some of which are converted to the status of cowsheds.

He himself is deeply concerned about the ITI development. He assured that some district ITIs will be run id PPP model or whether is it better to abolish the unless ones or not he said.

All the infrastructural structures will be investigated by Engineers and the whole administration will be reviewed by 5th November 2017.

The ITI Revival Day Celebration scheduled on Monday 30 October 2017 by AMISU, has been postponed until further notice, said in the October statement.
