DRAFT MEMORANDUM TO BE SUBMITTED TO CHIEF MINISTER SOON: DEPUTY CHIEF MINISTER

IMPHAL, 17th NOVEMBER, 2017 : The third and last meeting of Memorandum Drafting Sub Committee of All Political Parties in connection with the Government of India’s talk with NSCN(IM) was held today at the office of the Deputy Chief Minister Shri YumnamJoykumar Singh at Manipur Secretariat (North Block) in Imphal.

Speaking to newsmen in a press conference held after the meeting, Deputy Chief Minister who is also the Chairman of the Sub Committee said, after three different meetings of the Sub Committee were held this month, a memorandum has been drafted which is going to be submitted to Chief Minister within one or two days. After that, an all-party meeting would be held to finalise the memorandum as soon as possible. After finalising the memorandum, the same will be submitted to the Prime Minister. He said, proposalsand suggestions made by the members representing different political parties were noted in the meetings before drafting the memorandum concerning the issue. Members cutting across party lines are of the opinion that territorial integrity of Manipur should not be compromised while bringing a solution to the ongoing Indo-Naga peace talk.

Shri Joykumar Singh further stated that, there has been an apprehension among the people of the state that by December this year there may be a solution to the problem which may affect the territorial integrity of Manipur.State Government will definitely urge to the Centre that the territorial integrity of the State should not be compromised at any cost.

It may be mentioned that, the Memorandum Drafting Sub Committee was formed after an all-party meeting was held in this regard on 28th October, 2017 in Imphal. The first, second and third meeting of the Sub Committee were held on the 2nd, 14th and 17th November, 2017 respectively at the official chamber of the Deputy Chief Minister.(DIPR)
