TWO BAIL-OUT PLA CADRE APPREHENDED ON SANGAI FESTIVAL EVE

Imphal, November 21: Two bail-out PLA cadres were arrested yesterday during security operation at Kongpal as a part of measures take up on the eve of the Manipur Sangai Festival, which would be inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind.
Coordinating Committee, a conglomerate of rebel groups boycott the president’s visit imposing a general strike across the state beginning from 5 am today till 8 am tomorrow.
A police source said a combined team of Imphal East police commandoes and a column of 6 AR conducted cordon and search operation at Kongpal area, from 4 pm to 5 pm under the command of senior police officers Wungam Kasar Addl. SP/IE, Robinsun Khamnam DSP-CDO, RK.Saklemba DSP (Ops), B.Lunthang Vaiphei assisted by sub inspector Uttam under over all supervision of Imphal East superintendant of police. During the operation Thongam Gyanendro alias Ibomcha Singh (57) son of Th.Yaima Singh of Thangmeiband Polem Leikai a hard worker of PLA and Kabrabam Lele Singh (52) son of (L) K.Gourabidhu Singh of Thangmeiband Kabrabam Leikai an Ex-Cadre of PLA (Sgt.Major) were arrested at Kongpal Thongkhong area and recover one 9.m.m. pistol marked as RUGER P85 MK II USA made a long with one mobile handset Micromax and one Nokia handset with SIM CARDs were recover& seized from their possession and hand over to Porompat PS.
In another search operation yesterday morning teams led by Thangkhochon Haokip, DSP (Operations), Imphal West under the supervision of N. Madhunimai, Addl. SP (Operations) conducted house to house search operation & verification of residents at Thangmeiband Sinam Leikai from 5:30 am till 7:00 am. About 300 persons were verified out of which two UG bailouts were pulled up for verification.
The security has been hectic conducting series of combing operation at various places around Sangai festival venues including localities in the surroundings of Bheigyachandra Open Air Theatre where, the Sangai Festival is scheduled to be officially inaugurated.
