STRONG ACTION WILL BE TAKEN AGAINST THE ALLEGED POACHER: SHYAMKUMAR

IMPHAL, NOVEMBER 25, 2017 (DIPR): Forests and Environment Minister Thounaojam Shyamkumar today said strong action will be taken under Wildlife Protection Act 1972 against the person who was caught red handed carrying Kharsha (Hog Deer) meat yesterday. He further said all those persons involved in the heinous act will not be spared.

It is worth mentioning here that Hog Deer is enlisted under the Schedule I of Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.

A joined team of Keibul Lamjao National Park Forest and Keibul Lamjao Police Station personnel yesterday seized a bag of Hog Deer meat from a resident of Khordak Mayai Leikai, Bishnupur district at around 8.30 last night. Remaining parts of the Hog Deer was recovered from the spot at Keibul Lamjao National Park after the arrested person revealed to the authorities.

The accused person was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Court, Bishnupur today which later remanded him for 7 days to Forest custody for further investigation.
