Imphal, November 26: One youth died and another injured when a car travelling towards Imphal from Silchar fell into a gorge at Awangkhul, along the National highway 37, yesterday.
Both the injured and dead persons were brothers. The younger brother died at the spot. He was identified as Dingchabou Meijiulak, 28. The injured brother was identified as Kaluhabou, 26. Both were sons of Tathonang Meijiulak of Langmai village, Tamei.
The car bore the registration number AS 11M 1497. Security personnel of 14 Sikh Regiment and 143 CRPF evacuated the victims from the accident site. The injured boy was given first aid at Noney Primary Health Centre and further referred to a hospital in Imphal.
The death youth was employed as an assistant manager at SBI, Silchar. His dead body was deposited to JNIMS mortuary.
