Biren Singh visits Indo-Myanmar border along Behiang

Imphal, December 19: Chief Minister Nongthombam Biren Singh today visited the site where the monument stone installed by King Chandrakiriti at Indo-Myanmar border, about 2 km away from Behiyang in Churchandpur.    

Biren Singh revealed his happiness when he reached the site where the memory stone was erected by the king in 1872 after he drove away the Lushai King Kebel Lushai and marked the boundary of Manipur. The stone possesses scriptures about Chandrakirti.

“It was indeed a mixture of pride and heart-tugging to be there at the distant place” said the chief minister.  He thanked the Zou people for preserving the monumental stone.  

At Behiang Biren Singh inaugurated a health centre’s staff quarters. He laid the foundation stone for construction of a police station there and handed the required sum for land acquisition.

He said there will be a police station at the border in Churchandpur side by March 2018.

Behiang is about 117 km from the state capital.
