Imphal, January 3, 2018: Chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has assured all possible help to boxers from the government while he met M. Suranjoy Singh boxing coach and Arjuna Awardee, and S. Sarjubala Devi, international boxer at his secretariat, today.
Suranjoy and Sarjubala discussed about development of boxing and grooming of young players in the state with the chief minister.
Suranjoy during his career won gold at the Asian Boxing Championships, at Zhuhai, China, in June 2009, won Gold in the 2010 Common Wealth games held in Delhi, and won bronze in the 2010 Asian Games held at Guangzhou. Suranjoy also won a bronze medal in 2004 at the Junior World Championship.
He later became boxing coach.
Sarjubala in her career won gold in the AIBA world youth boxing championship held at Antalya, Turky in 2011 and silver medal in the 8th Women’s World Boxing Championships at Jesu, South Korea in 2014.
