Pothashang News Service, Imphal, February 9 : Abhilasha Kumari was sworn-in as Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur in a ceremony held Raj Bhavan with Governor Dr Najma Heptulla administering the oath. She is the first woman Chief Justice of the High Court of Manipur.
Abhilasha Kumari was former Justice of Gujarat High Court recently promoted to Chief Justice and transferred as Chief Justice of the Manipur court.
Chief Justice Abhilash Kumari is a native of Himachal Pradesh. She joined the Bar in 1984 and practice as in the Himachal Pradesh High Court.
Chief minister Nonthongbam Biren Singh, deputy chief minister Y. Joykumar, Speaker Y. Khemchand, former chief minister Okram Ibobi, Justice N. Koteswar were present among others present in the oath taking ceremony.
Her father Virbhadra Singh, former Himachal Pradesh chief minister was also present in the swearing–in-ceremony.
