Education Minister inspect schools

Imphal, 17 February 2017 (DIPR) : Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam said primary and upper primary schools with special emphasis on schools located at economically backward and remote areas of the state are being assessed in terms of the infrastructure conditions. Following the ongoing assessment work, constructions and infrastructure development works in some schools have begun with the completion of the first part assessment.

The Ministerial team inspected three schools at Upper Primary School Khellakhong Khongjin, Wabagai, Uchiwa Nastao Upper Primary School and the Mayang Imphal Thana Leirensana Junior High School, today.

As per report, Upper Primary School Khellakhong Khongjin has zero enrolment and the infrastructure condition in poor state. The Minister said that the poor condition of the school could be one of the factors for zero enrolment. Assuring that the condition of the school will be improved as soon as possible, the Minister expressed happiness that the locals are supportive and ready to extend full support for the development of the school.

The Minister also warned stringent action against those who have failed to carry out their duty to maintain the school infrastructure and the academic session for the past few years. He also appealed to the locals to extend their full support to bring a positive change in the education system of the school. He said the Government is focused to improve the education and health sector for the State to develop.

Officials of the Education Department also accompanied the visit.
